fangirljen: (Claire)
I've been puttering on a ficlet for a few days now. I finally got it written. It's called Breaking Ground, is a Claire POV, PG rated fic, and it has spoilers through "Let it Bleed." Maybe I'll do more of these. It came out of a prompt for [ profile] thewritingpen. I actually had a lot of fun with this. I'm kind of surprised at myself. :) It was a good prompt that happened to fit with where the show is right now.

Happy January 1st! 2009 was a difficult year at points, a good year at others. It was the year that I left my job with Borders to start on new adventures. Since then, I have made a couple of trips to Los Angeles--two to also spend time with my friends [ profile] eriksavatar and [ profile] willowpolson--and a trip to San Francisco to take part in the Night of Writing Dangerously. On that weekend, I stayed with my friend of over a decade now, [ profile] iamradar. First time I've stayed with her and that was a lot of fun. I kind of wish I had more time to spend with her and not have gone to the Night of Writing Dangerously. I plan to go back to the event next year. Maybe I'll make a week of it. I don't know. We'll see. I'm not making resolutions this year; I'm making life changes. Maybe it's the same thing. What matters is putting attention where it is needed. I have a lot to work on, but I'm doing it. Might take on some stuff more than other stuff, but I'm doing it. I'm squashing that fear. I don't need fear anymore.

Just a quick note: I'm not sure how often I'll be posting here. Maybe more than I was. I don't know. My focus is on other areas. One such area is my writing. I'm going to get daily updates on [ profile] writerfangirl done. If you are interested in following that at all, friend me. I'm working on a challenge for [ profile] getyourwordsout. 250k words in one year. I'm going to attempt it. I already know 50k are tied to NaNoWriMo. Seemed fun at the time. Lets see what I'm feeling a year from now.

And I have fandom squee! Real fandom squee! And of course it isn't Heroes related...but it's Doctor Who related! The Season 5 trailer is here!!!!!! (there be casting spoilers ahoy!) )

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it! Happy Yule! Happy Holidays! Got some snazzy and comfy pajamas with clouds on them from my parents last night so I slept in those. Sooo fabulous. Really soft! And they have footsies!

Getting up now for a 10:30AM screening of Sherlock Holmes with [ profile] brokenbacktango. It's the first showing over at my local theatre. Much fun time ahead. I heard the subtext is text! :D :D :D :D
fangirljen: (Touching possibilities)
My big plan for 2010 is taking part in the [ profile] getyourwordsout comm. And they really want you to get your words out. There are multiple tiers of writing. I went for the moderate level of 250,000 words. I have a whole year to write that. 50k is strictly for NaNo, so I have 11 other months to write 200k. Doesn't seem impossible if I actually stick to writing on a daily, or near daily, basis. I've written 74 pages this month alone. At 250 words a page, that's 18,500 words for the month of December. That's well above the average number of words (18,181) I'll have to write a month in 2010. So if I were to focus and write more words a day, complete entries on a daily basis, work on new projects, I can achieve 250k without many difficulties. I'm really looking forward to attempting this project. I tried to sign at the start of 2009, but I had missed the cut-off date: Dec. 31st, 2008. If you wanna attempt it with me, you have until the 31st of this year to sign up. I hope some of you take this writing challenge up with me. I would love to compare notes and take this journey with you.

Today marks my livejournal's seventh birthday! I missed it last year, I think, but I made a point to remember it this year. I have a lot more I want to write, and I really should, but there are some things I need to do before I can be online for the rest of the night/morning. I just wanted to hit the 10th before it turned into the eleventh. I didn't make my first post until the 15th. I really should write more online. I've been doing all of my writing off-line these days.

Inspired by [ profile] brokenbacktango, I went and got myself three more dragons. I had three already. Tonight I named those three. *L* Two of them actually have a pretty extensive family now. It's pretty cool.

I've been kind of pampering myself as of late. I'm getting more sleep, I'm taking better care of my body (maybe not with the kinds of foods, but definitely with how much food I consume; and I want to start a better skin care regiment)...okay, but focus on the positive, right? :) When I was in San Francisco last week, [ profile] iamradar pointed me out to Lush. OH DEAR GOD! This place! It would only be better if it had bath salts. I bought so many bath bombs. And they are fun! I don't throw them in the water, but I shave some of it off and throw it in the bath. What I get is silky scented water with bubbles. Feels really good. :D I've been trying to walk more. I walked about two miles today. It definitely is not as bad as I thought it would be. I am going to attempt to walk every day.

I've been reading Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth and Julia Cameron's The Writing Diet: Write Yourself Right-Size. Both have been very influential. I'm feeling somewhat grounded. I'm letting go of my insecure feelings. I would go into it more, but I'm tired right now. I've been up for twelve hours and feel really taxed.

But I wanted to get in some of my thoughts on the newest episode of )

Hey all!

House Petrelli needs your help! Adrian Pasdar said on his Youtube that he will be on the Today Show on 11/30. We need fans over at the Today Show. Start time is 7AM EST, so you'd have to get there early. We want to show him the support and Love that he has out there in the fandom.

If you are in New York City, and get the morning off, please join fellow fans in front of the Today Show. Wear your Heroes or Petrelli finery and please bring an encouraging sign. The show starts at 7AM, so you would want to arrive no later than 6AM if you want to be in front. The earlier the better, though. Information about where The Today Show is filmed and how to get there is found here.

We are also asking if a local fan would be willing to accept letters, presents, and signs and can bring these items to the Today Show and attempt to give them to Adrian, or, at the very least, show them on camera.

If you can take part in person, want to send an item, or if you are willing to have the fan items sent to you, please contact us here, on our 9th Wonders thread, or to our tweet.

I made a video! I've heard the rumors, read the blogs. I decided to make something that would make me happy, and I hope helps give some happiness to some other people too.

As I say in the description, this is my first video I have ever made. I am thinking about remaking it, but with more clips. If you have any suggestions of clips (and links), I'd like to see them! :D

In any case, here's the vid!

Brand new Season 4 teaser vid. Embedding isn't working, so you can watch the vid here.

One guess as to why the thing is making me cry. Besides that, however, I will say that I really Love this video. It's crisp and flows well. It also feels right. The only downside is that it made me cry. :(
fangirljen: (Fangirl on CRACK!)

God this makes me LOVE Sendhil. :D I know it's a ad for his new movie, but it's really funny. And what he says about Heroes. *grins* If I meet him, I'll be very happy. He's the only main cast member who is still around whom I haven't met. :( Though I've seen him in person like four times.

Be sure to check him out on tonight's Psych, too! I'm looking forward to seeing him in that. I'm not a fan of Psych, nor do I watch it, but I will watch for Sendhil.

One of the highlights of the National Novel Writing Month is the Night of Writing Dangerously Write-a-thon Fundraiser. This is my sixth year doing NaNo and I've never been, but I've always wanted to. This is actually the first year that I'll be able to attend because I have the funds to get myself to San Francisco!

As it is a write-a-thon fundraiser, you need to get sponsors to get you there. $200 USD will get you in. I need all the help I can on this to reach the goal. Any amount would help. One dollar. Anything. The money goes to The Office of Letters and Light, the parent non-profit company behind NaNoWriMo. Their main program is the Young Writers Program.

Thank you for any help that you can give! I'm really looking forward to this NaNo. I'm trying to be a Municipal Liaison for my area and I'm anticipating winning NaNo number 4.

Please help sponsor me to attend the Night of Writing Dangerously 2009
