Consensus? I don't know, I don't know any others except my partner... If there's any series I'm really committed to, it's Firefly. Anyway, I didn't mean to belittle what you were feeling - it's just that very few shows ever get to run that long. Maybe it's for the best. It seems to me that really great series seem to reach their peak, then decline, and maybe it's better for them to end before they do. Look what happened to the X-Files. I really wanted to see the last 2 seasons made, but after they were, I wished they hadn't been. Even the Farscape mini-series was much inferior to the series. All the writers and actors from SG-1 will go on to create new work, probably creating something new and wonderful to for us all to get hooked on. And there's still plenty of open endings for fanfiction, books, etc., which could be better than if the series had continued on past its prime.
