Oh, you really should see it. A lot of purists had complaints, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's the part Ron Perlman was born to play.

Purists usually have complaints. I think what matters more is the material is fun. A new take on a character in a comic book movie is fine as long as it is executed well. And one thing is for sure: Ron Perlman looks like he is having fun.

Born to play. Wow. Thanks for the high rec. *chuckle* As it happens, I have this on DVD. It might actually be the movie I have two copies of. That's either Hellboy or that Van Helsing, neither of which I have seen, but have had the DVD for years. o.O I don't know why I am weird, I just am.

I'm SO excited for the Sequel. I agree, Ron Perlman was born to play this role (kinda like how i feel Robert Downey Jr. was born to play Tony Stark, but that's me.)

OMG you should have heard how I squealed when I saw Hellboy with Jay and Grant, the Ghost Hunters. I reallly hope they come to Comic-Con because I am such a fangirl of those two. (Note: I do NOT ship them, cause they're happily married to their respective wives, with families. I just...really really love them and their show :) )

I recommend watching the first one. It went on perhaps a smidge too long, but it was very entertaining and definitely left me wanting MORE. (The animated eps are good too.)

Hellboy II is my most-awaited movie of the year. No contest.

The first movie was kind of like good popcorn fun. Now that term is kind of used to describe mediocre, CGI heavey movies... but when this one came out it really was a popcorn flick, in the sense that you went in, had a good time, and didn't have to take any baggage out of the theater.
