Isn't flaming a bad word? Well, I'm still trying to figure out what "snowflake" means so perhaps I'm not the best person.

True. But I didn't read it in a negative context.

I found the entry on Urban Dictionary, but it doesn't say anything about the origin of the phrase.

And there's a listing for snowflake, too.

Okay, this is why I don't read Urban Dictionary. They manage to make everything that can possibly be an insult into a racist, homophobic and/or sexist insult. Snowflake is just insulting because it's a sarcastic way of calling someone special, and as far as I know, it's sourced specifically back to sensitivity training and multiculturalism activities in school where everyone was told they are special like a snowflake. Fight Club, of course, also has a fairly strong influence.
