Quick Post From LA (Comments Contain Spoilers)
In all seriousness, I didn't have much excitement for The Dark Knight. I loved Batman Begins, and I was more excited for this sequel a few years ago. However, I have to say this: any expectations I could have had, it absolutely blew them all away. Stephanie and I spent AN HOUR after the movie talking about the details and I know that there were many themes and examples that we didn't touch. Talk about a cerebral superhero movie. For the kind of movie that it is, it is in a class by itself. Just...shit man. I need to see it again.
The Dark Knight
If you are reading this and have not seen it, do so. No, right now. Turn off your computer, grab your keys, and go see it. Now. Right now. Why are you still reading this when you could be seeing Batman?!
Re: The Dark Knight
I love Iron Man, but it's for an entirely different reason than why I love The Dark Knight. Because in actuality (and I'm afraid people are going to be stupid and make this mistake) the two movies cannot be compared. They are both superhero movies, but Iron Man was a movie about a superhero, while The Dark Knight was a movie that had a superhero in it--and that might be stretching it. Batman is, like Gordon said, much more than a hero, super or otherwise.

Re: The Dark Knight
This is morbid, very morbid, I must warn you, but the fact that Heath Ledger passed away is on the same level of random that drives the Joker. It is...doesn't make any sense. And to play that kind of character...very disturbing. :( I was wondering how people's psyches were affected in this, especially the actor who played Gordon's children. They're just young kids, forget about how they are actors. :(

That question tends to ride in the back of my mind in any movie that has kids doing or being involved in dark situations, but I would guess that the on-set experience is different than the experience we see as viewers. I mean, the scene of the kids in TDK at the end (*spoilers* for the rest of the comment) ... Two-Face's stuff was all CGI, wasn't it? So I'm guessing the kids didn't have to see that.
Anyway, on a lighter note. :) Dark and depressing, but also hugely entertaining, I'd say. Couple of laugh-out-loud moments for me, even if morbid ones. Joker in the nurse's outfit was hilarious and terrible all at once, hee. :D
