All yanked from Michael Korda's page on Brainy Quotes.

I have no idea who this man is, but he has some pertinent words of wisdom.

Act well at the moment, and you have performed a good action for all eternity.

Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life.

An ounce of hypocracy is worth a pound of ambition.

If you don't believe in yourself, then who will believe in you? The next man's way of getting there might not necessarily work for me, so I have to create my own ways of getting there.

Luck can often mean simple taking advantage of a situation at the right moment, It is possible to "make" your luck by being always prepared.

Never walk away from failure. On the contrary, study it carefully and imaginatively for its hidden assets.

One way to keep momentum going is to have constantly greater goals.

Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one's origins and one's final achievement.

Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility... in the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have... is the ability to take on responsibility.

The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own.

The freedom to fail is vital if you're going to succeed. Most successful people fail from time to time, and it is a measure of their strength that failure merely propels them into some new attempt at success.

The more you can dream, the more you can do.

To succeed it is necessary to accept the world as it is and rise above it.

Decided to get on the bandwagon for the banner (though, originally it was my morning crackpot idea. Yay for morning crackpot ideas! *L*) by helping with the collecting of names.

So here's the thing.

[livejournal.com profile] theemdash is making a "Thank You for 10 Years!" banner (banner can be viewed here) that's to be signed at Dragoncon next week and then presented to Christopher Judge to bring back to Vancouver.

Now, we know that many people won't be able to attend Dragoncon, but this doesn't mean that you can't be represented there in spirit.

If you want your name added to the banner, please post the name you would like to be listed as here. The name can be your fandom name or your real name, whichever you want to use. :) Come Dragoncon, somebody on the SGOW Track can make the sigs. I'm happy to do it, even. :)

Please spread the word to your flists, boards, lists, and comms that we're collecting names for this.

x-posted many different places.

I'd like to make a plea to you, my dear flist.  If any of you have ever been inclined to Stargate: SG-1, ever liked it in the past, ever were curious about the program, I implore you, please watch today's episode at 9PM EST (8PM Central).  This is the first showing since Sci Fi cancelled the series, and, even though they don't seem to believe so, the numbers tonight DO matter.  So please, view the episode when it comes on.  Don't TiVo it because the TiVo figures don't affect the Nielsen Rating.  If you have no desire to watch the show, that's fine too. :)  No pressuring.

In (slightly) other news, I'm working on a new thing for Dragoncon: a Thank You for 10 Years Banner from SG-1 fans to the cast.  If you are unable to attend Dragoncon, but want your name on the banner, please reply to this post.  Feel free to mention the banner to your flists, on mbs, comms, lists, everywhere there are SG-1 fans.  I want that white covered! *L*

And if you are coming to Dragoncon, and want to sign it,  great! You can sign it in person!  It's going to be in the track room.

The specifics aren't the same, nor are the circumstances, but The World Will Know, from Newsies,  is so encouraging.  :D
fangirljen: (A Hero Can Save Us)
The real, honest to goodness reason SG-1 was cancelled: with Cheyenne Mountain Complex having to be closed, SG-1 had to be scrapped.  There are no such thing as coincidences.

This seems to be the main campaign video for the Save Our Stargate Campaign. If you like it, plug it, please! :)
