Long Time No See, Dear Flist!

Wow, a month went by. Over a month. Wowww.

Been very, very busy these last few months. Been working over a full shift, and that is always good at kicking my ass.

Not a big update right now. More when I'm coherent, am not working on NaNo, when I don't have a 900 year old Timelord who isn't bouncing in my head and is keen on giving other people NaNo Advice (WTF?!?), and when I'm not working a double shift (the universe hates me at the moment, gah!)

I had some great fun over this past weekend, as I went to the Creation Stargate Con, in Burbank, and went to A Dog's Breakfast screening in LA.

Just for some clarification:

If you see a fuzzy squirrel in David's pocket, that's because I gave it to him. Check out the life sized squirrel (King Rodent). The squirrel comes from everyone who was at the theatre and from the LA group. Spur of the moment purchase by me, but David needed a momento of the event.

In addition to the squirrel, I made David a poster. Every opening needs a poster so I pulled one together.

Holy crap! That picture is awesome!!! That squirrel idea is too cool. He looks like so much fun to meet in person - it's so awesome you got to see him at the screening! How'd you like the movie, BTW?

Thos are the best of the lot. The other ones...mmm. *sighs* I was sitting in almost the furthest row in the hall, though.

Thank ye! It turned out so well. I didn't think about the chatter that would come afterward. *L* I've seen people mention the plushie on LJs and forums that I'm not associated with. My friend told me that she and her friends even had a talk about comparing the squirrel to Zelenka having ferrets in his pants (though it seems that Nykl has some space squirrels working for him, who send out automated e-mail when people post on his guestbook. But the funny thing is, 'squirrel marketer' is an actual term, according to wiki).

He's charming. :D He was himself at the premiere, which made me happy. You can tell when his personality shifts. I saw him in a Comic Con Q&A and he had many McKayisms. But when you approach him one on one, he's David--or maybe Rod. :P

Loved the movie! I was able to predict what was going on, but that doesn't change my love for it. Some very funny quotes.

Hey...you have an icon of that infamous Michael/Ben pic, don't you? I want to think you made one. But the reason I bring is up is because I met the woman who took that photo. I was like, "Uh, have you heard how much people have took to that photo?" :D And she just gave me this somewhat irritated (she always looks irritated) nod. But it turns out I have a friend who is friends with her so hopefully she won't be so irritated with me when I see her at cons, which keeps on happening. I think I must have given her at least 500 dollars when it comes to photographs. Seen her at six or seven conventions in two years.

Hehe. *L* I tried not to say that word about David. *L* Even changed it a few times to fantastic. I don't think he quite got it, though. :( He even said he hasn't seen the first series of Doctor Who! :(

Creation Cons are evil. Ask wymsie, who happened to get a post under you. They are only worth going to because you are unlikely to find the actors they bring in elsewhere. :( Necessary evil sort of thing. They have allowed me to meet Michael Shanks and have a few great experiences with him. Had to shell out a few hundred dollars, but it was good money spent. I just wouldn't get the gold ticket again. *L*

Yeah, I'm sorry. :( There's Timeless Destinations now, though. That's basically like Gatecon, but just opened up to actors in other shows, too. That's what GC had to do to stay in Vancouver, but many SG actors do appear there as well. Michael Shanks (as a vendor) and Christopher Judge were there this year.

The last year of Vancouver GC was like a preview of what TD would be. But i totally didn't know the SG actors could still return like that! Woot! Still no money, but i wanna go back so bad. I miss the volunteer family more than anything.

Ooo, I'm trying to get Tony to D*Con. I met him this weekend. Total sweetie. Wish I had had more time with him and was able to get a pic. :( But he seemed very, very excited about wanting to go to D*Con.
